CLASS STRUCTURE: Young children require constant stimulation. This class is high energy with very little down time, so all class objectives are addressed without the child getting bored. Steve DeMasco’s shaolin children’s classes do just that. The class starts out high energy and maintains the momentum throughout the duration, with only one meditation break. The meditation break is utilized by the instructor to talk about respect, self discipline, and self control. This lasts no more than five minutes. It is conducted in a fun and entertaining manner.
The 45 minute class is broken up into five parts.
- PART 1: stretching, calisthenics, motor skill exercises, punches and kicks.
- PART 2: self defense material required for belt advancement.
- PART 3: Kung-fu obstacle course.
- PART 4: Character development time
- PART 5: End with high-energy kung-fu movement
