Teens Program (Ages 12-16)
CLASS OBJECTIVES: Teen classes provide a high-energy and fun experience in the environment teens like best – learning with their peers. Teens want to be treated like adults without the adult responsibility. We work to prepare them mentally and physically for the adult world, while training them as martial artists with great respect and self control.
CLASS STRUCTURE: This high-energy class is taught in a similar manner to the adult class, with very little down time, and lots of peer interaction. Students enjoy a strong cardio workout, self-defense training, and our life skills and anti-bullying program are woven into the class activities.
The 45 minute class is broken up into five parts.
- PART 1: stretching, calisthenics, motor skill exercises, punches and kicks.
- PART 2: Bag work, partner work
- PART 3: Self defense material
- PART 4: Character development time
- PART 5: End with high-energy kung-fu movement
SUMMARY: Shaolin Teen students are treated with respect, challenged to achieve their personal best, and encouraged to laugh and enjoy themselves during this high-energy workout.
