Regional Shaolin Olympics Weekend of Fun! March 9 and 10

On Saturday, March 10, SDSS will host our Regional Shaolin Olympics. Remember, you need to participate and rank in the top four in your regional event in order to compete at the state and national events.
The fun begins on Friday, March 9, with a Shaolin Olympics Prep and Board Breaking party. Friends and siblings are invited to participate, while students who will perform in the Shaolin Olympics the next day put the finishing touches on their performance. See your local studio for details.
Then on Saturday, March 10, we will host our own Shaolin Olympics. This event will highlight the best and brightest of our students doing defensive techniques, forms, weapons, and sparring. Siblings will be invited to break a board at the event itself.

February is “Buddy Month” at SDSS Ridgefield

This month, SDSS invites you to share the martial arts experience with your friends.
We will be running several “Bring a Buddy” events this month, including the Angry Birds party on Friday February 3, the President’s Day Camp on Monday February 20, and the Shaolin Olympics Pre-Party & Board Breaking Class on Friday March 9.
In addition to these special events, we encourage you to invite your friends to try a class. Just have your buddies fill out one of our permission slips to attend any group class during the month of February.
Better yet, your instructor will be glad to set up a free private lesson just for you and your buddy!
At the end of the month, if a buddy that you brought into the studio signs up for lessons, you will receive a $50 gift card.
Shaolin Olympics Pre-Party & “Bring a Buddy” Board Breaking Class

Invite your friends to experience the POWER of Kung Fu!!!
On Friday March 9th from 6:00pm-7:30pm SDSS will be holding a special Shaolin Olympics Pre-Party & Board breaking Class for students who are competing in the Shaolin Olympics Regional and their Buddies. The class is only $29.95 per student and includes 3 boards. Family members and Buddies are FREE!!!. Any student who brings a Buddy will receive 2 extra boards to break.
Board Breaking is a fun way for students to practice mental focus and concentration. In addition, board breaking is a great way to boost a child’s confidence and self esteem. This is an excellent way to prepare for the Shaolin Olympics Regional Competition the next day!
SDSS Ridgefield Offers free WiFi

As an added benefit for our members, SDSS of Ridgefield will now offer free wireless internet service at the studio.
Just ask your instructor for the password and you can use our secure network to surf the net, check e-mail, play a game, or get some work done while your student is taking their lesson. All we ask is that you keep the volume low so our students can concentrate.
Ridgefield Studio Awarded The Grandmaster’s Cup

We’re proud to announce that our studio was awarded the Grandmaster’s Cup for the FORMS Division at The Shaolin Olympics National Finals on Saturday December 10.
The Grandmaster’s cup is awarded to the studio which has the most overall Gold Medal winners in the Shaolin Olympics Forms Division. This is a prestigious honor for our school, and we are so incredibly proud of our students.
Fred Whipple was awarded the Gold Medal in the 6-9 year old age group. Fred performed a a form called “Tong Bei Quan” which he has been working on for over a year.
Sam Camplo was the Gold Medal winner in the 10-13 year old age group. Sam performed the Eagle Form, which is the first form taught in our traditional 5 Animal Kung Fu system.
