Ridgefield Studio Awarded The Grandmaster’s Cup

We’re proud to announce that our studio was awarded the Grandmaster’s Cup for the FORMS Division at The Shaolin Olympics National Finals on Saturday December 10.

The Grandmaster’s cup is awarded to the studio which has the most overall Gold Medal winners in the Shaolin Olympics Forms Division.  This is a prestigious honor for our school, and we are so incredibly proud of our students.

Fred Whipple

Fred Whipple was awarded the Gold Medal in the 6-9 year old age group.  Fred performed a a form called “Tong Bei Quan” which he has been working on for over a year.

Sam Campolo

Sam Camplo was the Gold Medal winner in the 10-13 year old age group.  Sam performed the Eagle Form, which is the first form taught in our traditional 5 Animal Kung Fu system.

In addition to our Gold Medal winners, we are very proud of all of our students who participated in both the Shaolin Olympics and the Open Tournament on December 10.  While it is always nice to win, competition is about more than just winning medals and trophies.  All of the students that participated had to conquer the fear of public speaking and performing in front of large groups of people.  In addition we are proud to say that all of our students showed very good sportsmanship.

At the end of the tournament, Grandmaster called the instructors together and praised all the students.  “The level of competition this year was the best…ever,” he remarked.  “Forms, techniques, weapons, sparring – the kids looked great.”  That is high praise indeed coming from Grandmaster, and we’re absolutely thrilled with their performance.
