On December 10, 2011, Steve DeMasco’s Shaolin Studios came together in Danbury, CT for the International Grand Championships and Shaolin Olympics National Final. Over 400 students from all over the country competed in dozens of events.
“The level of competition was the best I’ve seen since our company began,” said company founder Grandmaster DeMasco. ”I’m very proud of our students, and our instructors. This says alot about the hard work of our students, and their teachers.”
“The parents are incredible, too,” Grandmaster continued. ”Some of these families traveled by plane, or several hours by car, just to be a part of this. We couldn’t do it without them.”
The Shaolin Olympics Finals represent the culmination of a year-long journey that begins every spring. Students compete in their regional tournament at the studio level. The winners from each studio advance to the state level tournament, held over the summer months. Then, in late fall, the company hosts a national final competition.
